Parents, I'm not sure how to handle this(sorry so long)?
I’m raising my little sister as a favor to our mother. She was in a bad car accident 3 years ago and is unable to care for herself or my sister. My father took off after the accident and moved across the state with his girlfriend, so that left me as the only one able to care for my sister. And I’m not saying its a burden, because it’s not. I love her to death and would do anything for her.

That being said, I’m at my wits end with her at the moment. She is generally your typical 15 year old girl: smart mouth, back talk, does what she wants…And yes, I do have a tendency to let her get away with some stuff, but not a lot. However, what she did last night is completely unacceptable.

She has a boyfriend, who is 16 and in a band. Not a punk band or anything, it’s more like the Jonas Brothers sorta thing. They are playing all the way on the other side of the state today and she has been asking me if she can go. I dont mind her going to their gigs but not when its 8 hours away and his parents are not going to be there. They have a manager who is "chaperoning" but I dont like him at all, so I told her she could not go. But I did let her sleep over at her friends house last night, which is what she said she was going to do. But I found out that she and her friend talked her friends older brother into driving them to the boys gig last night. I found that out when the friends mother called and told me today that she and her husband have made the brother bring the girls right back and they are on their way home right now. I’m literally going out of my mind right now. I called her cell but she wont answer. Probably because she know she’s in trouble and is avoiding me.
She’s definitely up the creek without a paddle for this, but I’m failing to come up with an adequate punishment. Something that is appropriate for the crime but also lets her get the picture. I’d really appreciate some suggestions and maybe some advice on how to handle this.

She can’t see her boyfriend, she can’t see her friends, she can’t go out. She goes to school, work (if she has a job) and thats it.

She has no entertainment at home, she has books and that’s it, she eats what you want her to eat, when you want her to eat it and where you want her to eat it.

You take her cell, laptop and all other "privileges" away from her, she’s 15, she does not have the right to a cell or a laptop. She keeps her bed, her wardrobe and her desk, everything else goes, including the bedroom door.

You drop her off at school, you pick her up from school.

This wasn’t just blatant disregard for your authority it was down right dangerous, anything could have happened while she was half way across state. You’d said no, and she ignored you, so she needs to understand that if she can’t respect you, she doesn’t have any privileges.

You decide how long it goes on for, I’d say until she shows that she can behave again. There’s no point in a shouting match with her, so have everything sorted for when she gets home and don’t give her a choice in the matter.

It might seem harsh and a normal grounding would have been find IF she’d just gone out locally against your wishes, but 8 hours away without parental supervision at 15 is NOT okay and she needs to learn.

if shes not doing drugs or getting prego then yous doing your job. SHE IS 15, let her have alittle power in this world. make sure she’s at least doing good at school. other then that what else do you want?? dont be a controling little freak. even if she just smoked weed wouldn’t be horrible, just make and open her eyes to how the harder drugs can ruin you, but a little 15 year old girl running around not getting into trouble with the pigs and doing good at school, let her be able to tell you EVERYTHING about everything, get close to your sister, what more would you really want. it was a friday night, let it be and let her be a teenager. dont make her into a little slave with just school and sleep.

Ever feel like you influence your friend without meaning to?
Like my friends are my friends because i have no one else…truth. We don’t have much in common, at least we didn’t have. Both my friends used to love sport wear tracksuits always and not really know or care much about appearance or fashion or music or celebs. I’m not like a waste of space i do good in school and am always reading a new book. Well this transformation took place so slowly i only saw it last week when we were looking back….
I don’t know why but it makes me so mad and just want to cry and scream and attack them.
I love being me, individual and different and i was different but now they seem to be more like me than i am!! I’ve kind of been distancing myself and stuff, wearing other clothes and being into different music and they are sticking with their image…my old one MY IMAGE…it makes me so sad like i didn’t realize i was able to do this or else they are like really easy to influence….
The worst part is they literally took the worst parts of me and left me with the good parts i wan them to have….they took the superficial parts and now we have nothing in common really except they are OVERLY obsessed with looks/hair what others wear ect…i didn’t say omg you cannot wear tracksuits ewe gross i just said no i just don’t like them i prefer jeans skirts ect…and now they always whisper omg look at what she is wearing ewe and im like hello INDIVIDUAL STYLE .
I’m so sick of them and mad

Anyone ever find this happened to them? Without trying? Or if you copy someone like why do you do it when the person doesn’t want it?

If you just want to be famous, you have to have a gimmick, a story, the ability to sell sex, the willingness to compromise your art for the sake of money and the whims of the masses…

Ether way, don’t rule out youtube. Becoming famous as a musician is such a long shot, that you can’t pass up any opportunity to gain exposure. Do EVERYTHING that might allow people to hear your music and remember your name.

The fast will say: ‘O Lord, I prevented him from his food and desires during the day. Let me intercede for him.’ The Qur’an will say: ‘I prevented him from sleeping at night. Let me intercede for him.’ And their intercession will be accepted." [Ahmad]

Abu Umamah reported: "I came to the Messenger of Allah and said: ‘Order me to do a deed that will allow me to enter Paradise.’ He said: ‘Stick to fasting, as there is no equivalent to it.’ Then I came to him again and he said: ‘Stick to fasting."’ [Ahmad, an-Nasa'i, and al-Hakim].

Sahl ibn Sa’d reported that the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said: "There is a gate to Paradise that is called ar-Rayyan. On the Day of Resurrection it will say: ‘Where are those who fasted?’ When the last [one] has passed through the gate, it will be locked." [al-Bukhari and Muslim].

He who is amongst those who pray will be called from the gate of the prayer (in Paradise) and he who is from the people of Jihad will be called from the gate of Jihad, and he who is from those’ who give in charity (i.e. Zakat) will be called from the gate of charity, and he who is amongst those who observe fast will be called from the gate of fasting, the gate of Raiyan." Abu Bakr said, "He who is called from all those gates will need nothing," He added, "Will anyone be called from all those gates, O Allah’s Apostle?" He said, "Yes, and I hope you will be among those, O Abu Bakr." [Bukhari]

The Legend of 1900 (1998)

This chance discovery prompts a story from Max, which he relates both to the shopkeeper and later to the official responsible for the doomed vessel, for Max is a born storyteller. Though now down on his luck and disillusioned by his wartime experiences, the New Orleans-born Max was once an enthusiastic and gifted young jazz musician, whose longest gig was several years with the house band aboard the Virginian, a posh cruise ship. While gaining his sea legs, he was befriended by another young man, the pianist in the same band, whose long unlikely name was Danny Boodman T.D. Lemons 1900, though everyone just called him 1900, the year of his birth. Abandoned in first class by his immigrant parents, 1900 was found and adopted by Danny, a stoker, and raised in the engine rooms, learning to read by reading horseracing reports to his adoptive dad. After Danny’s death in an accident, 1900 remained on the ship. Increasingly lured by the sound of the piano in the first-class ballroom, he eventually became a gifted pianist, a great jazz improvisationist, a composer of rich modern music inspired by his intense observation of the life around him, the stories passengers on all levels of the ship trusted him enough to tell. He also grew up to be a charming, iconoclastic young man, at once shrewd and oddly innocent. His talent earned him such accolades that he was challenged by, and bested Jelly Roll Morton in an intense piano duel that had poor Max chewing paper on the sofa in agonies of suspense. And yet for all the richness and variety of his musical expression, he never left the ship, except almost, once, in the aftermath of his infatuation with a beautiful young woman immigrant who inspired the music committed to the master Max discovers in the pawnshop. Max realizes that 1900 must still be on the ship, and determines to find him, and to find out once and for all why he has so consistently refused to leave.
