Are ALL Native Americans decendants of Siberian immigrants?
This is a BIG question of mine, and I was thinking about writing a report about it for an anthropology course I’m taking, but I cannot find ANY credible information on the subject.

Its really a personal belief of mine based off of just some logical observations.

I mean OBVIOUSLY people DID cross the Bering Straight at some point, and clearly some Native Americans are their descendants, but I just cannot believe that there were NOT,… ALREADY people here BEFORE that, or that ALL Native Americans purely descend from those East Asians that crossed over. Especially, with Southern Native Americans.

I’m sure that later waves of Siberian immigration probably intermixed with existing populations, and possibly even replaced them (especially in North America). But, there just HAVE to have been an earlier population that was already there.

Here is my rationale,…

"If" ALL Native Americans descend from a series of successive immigrations of North East Asian populations from Siberia, that crossed the Bering Straight over a period time then,… why,….

1. Are the oldest human remains found in CENTRAL and SOUTH America???

*(Think about it, if EVERYONE crossed the Bering Straight all the way up North,… in present day Alaska,… then how is it that the oldest human remains and civilizations appear in CENTRAL and SOUTH America. It just doesn’t make sense.)*

2. Why are the most advanced Native American cultures appear in Central and South America???

*( Shouldn’t the MOST advanced cultures be in the North? After all, they would have been there the longest? They would be more advanced.)*

3. Why are the Largest Native American populations found in Central and South America???

*( It makes no difference whether you look at it from precolonial or post-colonial standpoint, since as long as we know Central and South America has ALWAYS had MUCH larger populations of Native Americans, than North America, and that doesn’t make any sense "if" everybody came in from Siberia. Because Siberians would have favored cold temperature, similar to northern North America. Or at least the moderate climate of the middle area, of "North America", but surely NOT the insanely HOT tropical jungle climate of Central and South America. Also, if they came from the North, the largest concentrations of people would have also been there. As well as, the oldest human remains, and civilizations.

4. Why then do Native Americans (especially in the South) look so physically distinct from East Asians, with unique genetic markers not found in ANY other population, including East Asians???

*(There are DNA tests available to the general public that can accurately determine if you have any Native American ancestry, and does NOT confuse that with East Asian ancestry, because there are genetic markers found exclusively in Native Americans. If they are East Asian, then why do they look SO different (Especially in the South) with genetic material NOT found among East Asians. Why are those genetic marker also stronger and MORE prevalant in the South???)*

My theory is that either when Pangea broke up, or at some other early time there were already people inhabiting the America’s. I beleive that they were probably found mostly in Central and/or South America and, that they were later intermixed with and/ somewhat replaced by North East Asian Siberian immigrants that crossed the Bering Straight much later on.

Is there any reliable/credible information to support my theory??? Does anyone know of a book, or any other literature I can use to support that theory??? Are there any other people asking that question or, are there any answers to these questions that anyone knows of???

I would GREATLY GREATLY appreciate ANY good information you could provide me with on this subject. Thank You for your help!!!

The Beringia hypothesis and Native American self understanding are fairly well described above.

The oldest sites have been found in North America, although humans seem to have spread throughout both continents fairly quickly. There is a skeleton as much as 19,000 years old near Kennewick, Washington, which was retrieved from scientists and reburied by Native Americans claiming him as ancestor.

By the time that Homo sapiens had worked their way across Asia from Africa, they had highly developed cultures allowing adaptation to all kinds of conditions. Whether a culture is advanced or not is highly subjective, as life under all kinds of conditions has brought complex cultural development, even among small-scale societies. Small-scale societies furthermore are generally much more stable and durable than large-scale ones. Large-scale urban cultures with dense populations emerged in Central and South America due to initial domestication of staple crops: corn, beans and squash in Central America, and potatoes in South America. Corn, beans and squash domesticates spread to North America, leading to large-scale, proto-urban Mississippian and subsequent cultures in North America. And even if they did not develop into full-blow urban cultures, large states emerged over vast areas of what is now the eastern United States and Canada. In the Pacific Northwest, centralized States based not on domestication but on a plentiful wild energy source, salmon, emerged.

There is a myth of a "wild" America in North America, but Europeans have only been able to entertain this illusion due to the vast depopulation of the native population through disease, war and cultural dislocation that accompanied the European arrival and spread over the Americas. When Europeans arrived, there were at least 17 million people in North America, and the entire ecology of the continent had been reshaped by pre-Columbian populations with millions of acres under corn cultivation and by the use of fire. By 1900 only 300,000 of these people had survived this "great disaster," but there has been a continued and vibrant regrowth of their populations despite systematic effort to destroy their cultures and communities.

Regarding differences in features of South Americans, besides the widespread intermixing with Europeans and the different waves of immigration, 10 or 20 thousand years of separation allows emergence of significant variance in the distribution of genetic variability, as seen in populations in the Old World and the Pacific.

Pangaea broke up some 250 million years ago, long before humans or even primates appeared on this planet, so it was not a factor except to the extent that it affected the distribution of different animals and plants utilized by different human populations as they spread over the Americas. Monkey’s and apes diverged perhaps 28 million years ago, if I recall, and the human genus has only been around five million years. The modern human species appeared 200,000 years ago and started to emerge out of Africa only about 50 thousand years ago, perhaps. The locations of the continents were basically the same for even the earliest modern humans.

I thought the remains found in Southern/Central America were those that came from present day Africa. and the Native Americans in the US/Canada came from Sibera during the ice age

They are often also referred to as Native Americans, First Nations, Amerigine, and by Christopher Columbus’ geographical and historical mistake, Indians, now disambiguated as the American Indian race, American Indians, Amerindians, Amerinds, or Red Indians.

According to the still-debated New World migration model, a migration of humans from Eurasia to the Americas took place via Beringia, a land bridge which connected the two continents across what is now the Bering Strait. The most recent point at which this migration could have taken place is c. 12,000 years ago, with the earliest period remaining a matter of some unresolved contention.[1][2] These early Paleo-Indians soon spread throughout the Americas, diversifying into many hundreds of culturally distinct nations and tribes.[2] According to the oral histories of many of the indigenous peoples of the Americas, they have been living there since their genesis, described by a wide range of traditional creation accounts.
